"The day in Australia when I saw 500 dead animals for every live one Giving is said to be one of the keys to achieve success and happiness in life. Even Jim Rohn, author and motivational speaker, recommends donating 10% of your income in his 70/30 finance rule*. There are a variety of methods of giving. Giving can be a smile, a laugh, or acknowledging someone’s existence. Whatever the case, there is always an opportunity to give. Today is no exception. Although the well-publicized event "Giving Tuesday" does not occur until later in the year, charities do not only need support once a year. Therefore, allow me to showcase some of the charities and/or events that I know of that will be occurring throughout the year. Take, for example, the #KoalaComeback campaign that was launched by photographer David Yarrow and environmental non-profit organization WildArk, in an effort “to raise $2 million to support recovery efforts in Australia.” According to the #KoalaComeback campaign website: "Fifty percent of the proceeds will be directed to Earth Alliance’s Australia Wildfire Fund, With all the events that have occurred in a short amount of time in this new decade, the wildfires of Australia have carried on from the last decade and continue to burn. A stark reality that sometimes the littlest of things, whether good or bad, can have a lasting effect for years to come.
If you would like to know more about the #KoalaComeback campaign, please visit their website at koalacomeback.com. Alternatively, you can visit the WildArk website for this and other donation campaigns at wildark.org. Any contributions are welcome. Since donation is something that should align with your own set of personal values, this charity might not be your cuppa tea. However, even if it’s not please still share as there may be some of your friends/followers who would be interested. Because sharing is caring and I believe, deep down, we all care. *Rohn, J.
