"People who love to eat are always the best people." I guess that makes me good people, eh? I love to eat great food, however, more than that, I love to have a great dining experience. With today’s hustle and bustle it seems almost impossible to have the time to enjoy a good meal, yet alone cook a good meal. Add to the mix, having a special diet requirement can make this task even harder. Being a vegetarian for a decade now (five of those being vegan before it was cool), I am pleased to see the increase of awareness surrounding the daily nutrients required to sustain our overall health, this includes our mental health. I am even more impressed when I discover a fine dining establishment that offers nutritious options for people like my partner and I, who are both vegeterians. . So when my partner had arranged my first ever proper English afternoon tea at Panoramic 34 with veggie options, I was over the moon! Even more so because I had lived in the UK for several years and had never (that I can recall) experienced a proper English afternoon tea. Topped off by good company, which consisted of my partner and her family. The views are amazing; however, the food was what captivated my attention. ![]() Now for anyone who likes to eat in massive portions, I will forewarn that afternoon tea is not a massive portion affair. Afternoon tea is meant to be bite size portions with lashings of English tea. Please see above image. At Panoramic 34 you have two options for afternoon tea, a regular afternoon tea or luxury afternoon tea; I believe a luxury afternoon tea includes a fizzy alcoholic drink with your meal. Usually, my partner and I would’ve gone for a luxury experience; however, we opted for the regular option as we had errands to attend to right after. However, if you do decide to have the luxury meal, you can sit with a glass of bubbly and enjoy the views to your hearts content (or reservation time limit). The attentive waiting staff are on hand to ensure your delicious food is available quickly and your drinks have been topped up throughout your dining experience. As for the kid options, the restaurant pretty much reflected the same meal options as the adult’s regular afternoon tea; however, just in smaller portions with sandwiches less elaborate and prepared to a child’s palate. Should your child not like a specific sandwich filling, the restaurant can change the selection without an extra cost. As the sun set on the restaurant, we were able to take my partner’s nieces around the restaurant to take in all the views of Liverpool and give them a perspective of where they were. As pictures were being taken, I was reminded of the dining experiences I had as a child and how grateful I was to have had them.
The food was great, the views were amazing, and the company that afternoon was even better. Overall, that is the recipe for a great dining experience…no matter where you are in the world.
